The Southern Illinois Coalition (SICH) is hosting its second annual Dodgeball Tournament fundraiser on May 6, 2017 at The HUB in Marion, Illinois. This year there are two divisions making it an even bigger and better event. The Youth Division is for ages 12-17 and the Adult Division is for ages 18 and up. The funds raised by this event will go to help homeless or near homeless individuals and families who are served by SICH in Southern Illinois.
The Southern Illinois Coalition for the Homeless is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that was started in 1989 by individuals who recognized there was a need for low-income families to have a chance to buy a home of their own. The Coalition started with the “Homeless to Homebuyer Program” that purchased and rehabilitated 46 homes to assist low to very low income individuals and families become home owners. SICH expanded their range of programs to include affordable rental housing with supportive services for individuals and families that are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. We currently have 45 homes or apartments that we rent and seven homes that are under contract to purchase. The individuals and families we serve come from homeless and domestic violence shelters; halfway houses; Veteran hospitals; the streets; and from situations where they are forced to live in overcrowded housing with family and friends due to economic situations.
We are looking for both teams and sponsors for this event!
