Opioid abuse and other misuse of prescription drugs have become an epidemic with a tremendous impact on human lives, the labor participation rate, businesses, and economic growth. According to the Department of Health and Human Services, some 12.5 million people misuse prescription drugs, leading to over 33,000 deaths and $78.5 billion in economic costs per year. We have the opportunity to help drive change and fight this epidemic. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is proud to support the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.
