Samaritan Resource Center: Breaking the Cycle of Homelessness and Poverty
At Samaritan Resource Center (SRC), our mission is to reduce homelessness and stabilize at-risk individuals in East Orange County, Florida. We are dedicated to meeting the physical and spiritual needs of the homeless and other vulnerable members of our community as a testament to the love of Jesus Christ.
Established in 2013 as a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, SRC was formed through a collaborative effort with several churches in East Orlando, including Grace Journey, Orlando Wesleyan, Spirit of Joy Lutheran, University Presbyterian, and Woodbury Presbyterian. We continue to seek partnerships with churches that share our Christian Mission Statement.
Since opening our Colonial Drive center in 2013, we have provided assistance to over 2,000 homeless individuals. Our services include helping them apply for food stamps, SSI/SSD benefits, and Assurance phones. Through partnerships with Goodwill’s Job Connection Center and Lakeside Behavioral Center/Aspire, we also offer support in finding employment opportunities and accessing mental health resources. Additionally, we provide essential amenities such as haircuts, clothing, prayer support, and more.
As an official ACCESS FLORIDA Site, we are committed to empowering individuals to regain stability and independence. Our goal is not only to address immediate needs but also to break the cycle of homelessness and poverty by providing long-term support and guidance.
At SRC, we believe that every person deserves compassion and respect regardless of their circumstances. By working together with our community partners and volunteers, we strive to create a brighter future for those facing adversity. Join us in making a difference in the lives of our neighbors in need.
