Tooky Mills Pub - A Dream Come True for Sean Burt

Each September for the past nine years, Chef Sean Burt  has lent his kitchen and staff at Tooky Mills Pub  to the task of transforming some 400+ pounds of pork loins into schnitzel.  The effort of cutting, trimming and pounding all those pork cutlets requires dozens of man-hours, and over nine, years, that adds up to literally hundreds of hours given by Sean and his staff to make Schnitzelfest possible.  The Chamber showed its appreciation for his contributions to its biggest annual event and for the generous contributions to the community and local schools by naming Tooky Mills Pub the 2011 Business of the Year. Sean calls his restaurant a dream come true, and he isn't the only one in town who thinks so!

Tom & Tammy McClure - 2011 Citizens of the Year; Lifelong Community Servants

Tom and Tammy McClure accepted their 2011 Citizens of the Year plaque in their typically modest way--by thanking all of those who have worked with them on countless projects and programs that have boosted Hillsborough up in so many ways over their lifetimes. In presenting the award, Chamber Executive Committee member, Meg Curtis noted their contributions in athletics, literacy, business and cultural projects, from Little League and Babe Ruth to tennis and adult volleyball, Project Lift to the High Tide restaurant, the Bookettes to the Hillsborough Heritage Museum. Friends and family of the McClure's joined in celebrating the award and showed their appreciation for their untiring efforts on behalf of their hometown.

Friday is Community Service Day at the Office of Youth Services

The Chamber presented Hillsborough's Office of Youth Services a Special Recognition for Community Service, a new award to that recognizes the individual and combined efforts of  those whose service to the community does not fall under either the Citizen of the Year or Business of the Year category.  Calling Hillsborough a "candy store" of possibilities for community service, Youth Services Officer Peter Brigham vowed that he'll retire here and thanked his capable and dedicated staff--Judy Fournier, Bill Luce and Christi Racine--for working with him to build a model program for youth services and for helping young people reach out to serve in ways that not only connect them with their community but also provide them with valuable skills and work experience.
