August Tri-Chamber Luncheon

Join the members of all three North County Chambers of Commerce for lunch and Congressman Jason Chaffetz as our guest speaker

Jason Chaffetz became the Chairman of the House Oversight & Government Reform Committee in January 2015. He is currently serving his fourth term in the US House of Representatives. In the 114th Congress, he also serves on the House Judiciary Committee.
Jason and Julie Chaffetz have been married since 1991 and have 3 children. After finishing the 1988-89 football season as Brigham Young University’s starting placekicker, he graduated with a B.A. in Communications. He spent 16 years in the local business community, where he specialized in corporate communications work and ultimately owned his own communications firm. Prior to running for Congress, he served as campaign manager and chief of staff to former Utah Governor Jon Huntsman, Jr. from 2003 to 2005.
The values Rep. Chaffetz embraces are reflected in the issues he has prioritized during the course of his service. He ran for office on the promise of returning to the core conservative principles of accountability, strong national defense, limited government and fiscal discipline.
Accountability has been a hallmark of his work. Prior to being named Chairman of the Oversight Committee, he played a prominent role in numerous substantive investigations, including the Benghazi terrorist attack, the Fast & Furious gun running operation, the IRS targeting scandal and the Secret Service investigation. He is deeply engaged in exposing waste, fraud and abuse within the federal government.
Foreign policy and national security are a key focus of his work on both the Oversight and previously on the Homeland Security Committee. He has made numerous trips overseas to investigate issues ranging from embassy overspending to foreign aid waste. His trip to Libya in the weeks following the September 11, 2012 attack became the impetus for a broader investigation and the appointment of a Select Committee.
Rep. Chaffetz believes strongly in a constitutionally limited federal government. The federal government owns and manages nearly 70% of the land in Utah. During his tenure in the House, Rep. Chaffetz has served on the most important committee for rural western communities, the House Natural Resources Committee, and continues to be a prominent member of the Congressional Western Caucus. He supports federal land management policies based on multiple-use and sustained yield and believes that state management and local control are the best long-term solutions for the land and rural communities.
Rep. Chaffetz has been a tireless advocate of fiscal discipline, voting consistently to cut spending, eliminate earmarks, reduce duplication and retire outdated federal programs.

July Business of the Month!!

Congratulations to Costa Vida July Business of the month!!  The Inspiration
Costa Vida was born on the beautiful beaches of coastal Mexico, inspired by the lifestyle that pushes you to catch the wave – rather than stand on the sidelines to let life pass you by. This coastal lifestyle encourages passionately pursuing what makes you happy and gaining satisfaction from doing things the right way. We believe fresh food created with passion, from scratch using real ingredients, just tastes better! We know the difference and our customers can taste the difference.
Following a trip to Cabo San Lucas, Costa Vida founders JD and Sarah Gardner were inspired with a vision. While the surf lapped at their feet and they enjoyed the delicious freshly made local cuisine, they brainstormed how they could bring this vibrant lifestyle and incredible cuisine home with them. The result was the first Costa Vida location in Layton, Utah.
Being true to the cuisine of coastal Mexico, Costa Vida food is made fresh in each restaurant's kitchen. Each tortilla is hand crafted daily and served hot, ensuring that no customer will ever have to eat a factory-made tortilla pulled from a bag. The sweet pork and shredded beef are perfectly seasoned and slow-cooked for several hours to create the signature intense aroma and flavors of Costa Vida. Led by our Certified Executive Chef, Costa Vida uses only the highest-quality, all-natural ingredients to create flavorful, award-winning meals that leave guests energized, inspired, and looking forward to their next visit.
Since the first restaurant opened in 2003, people have embraced the Costa Vida Lifestyle. Today, Costa Vida is one of the fastest growing restaurant franchises in North America with locations across the United States and Canada.
