About New Mexico Kids Matter
Our Mission
We advocate for children who’ve been abused or neglected by empowering community volunteers to speak up for them in the foster care system. We train and support CASA volunteers who are appointed by judges to advocate for children’s best interests. They stay with each case until it is closed and the child is in a safe, permanent home.
What do CASA Volunteers Do?
Volunteers work with legal and child welfare professionals, educators and service providers to ensure that judges have all the information they need to make the most well-informed decisions for each child.
- Reviewing information about the child and their case history
- Engaging in quality time with the child through visits
- Participating in meetings with others involved in the child's case
- Writing and submitting reports to the Court
