The Alice Chamber of Commerce kicked off its “We Believe in AISD” campaign in February by honoring two schools in the Alice Independent School District. The We Believe in AISD initiative, brings together the Chamber, Alice Ambassadors and the Alice Jim Wells County Economic Development Corporations to promote the achievements and positive happenings around each of the district’s campuses.
The 78th Annual Alice Chamber of Commerce Banquet is set for Tuesday, April 28, 2015. We are proud to announce this year’s guest speaker is Jesse Thompson, who serves as business economist at the Houston Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas.
Applications for the Annual Citizen of the Year are now available at the Alice Chamber of Commerce. This year’s recipient will be named this spring at the 78th Annual Chamber Banquet.
Teachers and staff from Alice High School Career and Technology were recognized in February from the We Beleive In AISD committee. Teachers and staff were presented certificates of appreciation and treated to donuts. A gift card was also given to the group for their groups needs.

More than 50 individuals from Jim Wells, County, City of Alice, Premont High School and Coastal Bend College attended Jim Wells County Day at the Capital sponsored by the Chamber. The group met with Represenrtative JM Lozano and Senator Juan "Chuy" Hinojosa.

Three months into the year and we are off and running. The Chamber Banquet is next month and we are looking to honor some great individuals and businesses this year.
Over the last couple of weeks we have seen an economic downslide in our area with layoffs from various oil and gas companies. With the economic downturn based on the price of barrel of oil, our locals have been scratching their heads as to where our future is headed.
Your 30s and 40s can usher in a period in which your financial situation becomes increasing complex due to varied and sometimes conflicting priorities and expenses. You may find yourself contributing financially to support aging relatives at the same time you’re providing for your children – and trying to save for long-term financial goals of your own. An unexpected event – whether good or bad – may throw your plans and priorities into a tailspin.
