Chamber & City partner to assist Hurricane victims
Juan A. Navejar Jr.
The Alice Chamber of Commerce and the City of Alice teamed up to help provide support for Hurricane Harvey victims by opening a central location for donations of non-perishable foods, water, toiletries etc.
The year is going by too fast before you know it my term as board president will come to an end. A good indication of this is the nomination of the five new board members who will take office in January.
We certainly dodged a bullet with Hurricane Harvey, but for our neighbors east and north of us on the coast, the devastation was like a nightmare for those affected. I know firsthand what it is like to lose everything from a hurricane.
The Alice Ambassadors are looking for new members who would like to service the Chamber. We welcome Charity Webster from Meridian Care of Alice to our group.
Stocks sprinted to new highs in 2017 without their usual accompanying volatility, helping investors remain cool and unfazed despite elevated economic policy uncertainty, political acrimony, rising short-term interest rates and still-slow economic growth. Although U.S. stock market valuations are above-average, we think stocks can keep rising based on modest U.S. economic growth and rising earnings, as well as accelerating global growth.
BBB and Give.org Offer Tips on Helping Texas in the Aftermath of Hurricane Harvey
Better Business Bureau
Arlington, VA – The Better Business Bureau and BBB Wise Giving Alliance are advising people to help as much as they can in the Hurricane Harvey relief efforts, but to do so with caution and make sure their donations get to the people who need it most.
Still More on Old-New forms of Tourism Resarchg and Product Development
Tourism Tidbits
The world is changing faster than most of can often comprehend. New threats seem to arise daily, from threats of nuclear war to threats of economic crises, from acts of low-tech terrorism, such as car ramming, to new computer scams. These accelerated changes means that tourism professionals must adapt to a world that is not only often incomprehensible to the professional but even more so to his/her client.
Members from Church Unlimited gathered donations of food, water, toiletries and caravanned to areas hard hit from Hurricane Harvey. They were one of many Alice area church groups to make several trips up to the coastal areas.
