Old Fashion BBQ Returns

Twelve Days of Christmas

Something new for the Holidays this year is the Twelve Days of Christmas leading up to Shop Alice on Saturday, December 10, 2011.
“Last year the Chamber wanted the local residents to think Alice First during the Christmas Holidays,” Chamber Executive Director Juan Navejar said. “We had a great turnout last year for the one-day event that we wanted to try something new this year and have an event of some kind each night leading to the Shop Alice campaign.”

November is here and now I can say it’s time to get ready for the holidays. Right after Labor Day I started noticing some stores getting ready for Christmas. We had Halloween and Christmas displays practically on the same isles so I started calling this Hallismas. Either way Halloween is over and it’s time to start making the tinsel into “green”, money that is for all business owners.

Happy Veterans Day to all who are serving or have served in the Armed Forces from the Alice Ambassadors. It is because of you that we enjoy our freedom every day. Like to remind you the City of Alice is having a Veterans Day Celebration on Sunday, Nov. 6th at the Alice Int’l Airport from noon to 7 pm. There will be lots of food, games and music for all. The city will offer free face painting, space jumps and free pictures with cartoon characters. Music scheduled to play includes, the Veterans Band, Fallback, Jerry & Ruffnex, Jimmy Gonzalez & Grupo Mazz and JB & Moonshine Band.

TX Ranks First in Ex-IM Bank Small Business Financing

Congressman Rubén Hinojosa announced that according to the Export-Import Bank of the United States (Ex-Im Bank) in its preliminary Fiscal Year 2011 (FY’11) figures, more than $512 million in export credit was authorized for Texas small businesses, making Texas the top state in the country for all Ex-Im Bank small business financing.
