About Us

Casterton Title & Closing Company, Inc. is the result of a merger of James S. Casterton, P.A. in Lindstrom, Minnesota and Pioneer Title Insurance in St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin. Both offices have employees who have been engaged in the title business for nearly all of their adult lives.

Our firm traces its origin to 1988, when our owner, James S. Casterton, was admitted to the Minnesota Bar. Mr. Casterton has had a lifelong interest in history and real estate. Examining title to real estate has been a great way to pursue both interests.

In the early 1990’s, Mr. Casterton examined abstracts of title and provided attorney’s title opinions to local lenders, realtors, and purchasers of real estate. As lenders began selling loans on the secondary market, the need for title insurance became more evident. In 1996, Mr. Casterton became a title insurance agent and gradually increased the size and scope of his title insurance and real estate closing business. In March of 2003, Mr. Casterton and his assistant, Cheryl Kennedy, left their previous law firm and moved to our present office in Lindstrom. We were joined almost immediately by Lisa Lewis and Chris Frampton. In October of 2005, we discontinued the law practice after acquiring Pioneer Title in St. Croix Falls.
