Brief Description
Main Street Bartow, Inc. & Bartow Cycling Events are gearing up for the Bloomin Bike Ride on March the 3rd. This companion event with Bartow’s Bloomin Art Show and Bloomin 5K, is an on-road cycling tour along the scenic back roads of southern Polk County. Gently rolling roads take our cyclists across the Peace River Basin through expansive citrus groves and around the old Florida backwoods. Additionally, this is a cycling event that sets us apart by providing great cycling support via fully stocked rest stops with friendly volunteers, trailing vehicles for assistance and aid, course photographer, after ride massages, cool goodie bags & great food provided by some of Bartow’s finest restaurants that keep our cyclists coming back to experience even more of our hometown cycling hospitality!
So gather your family members for a leisurely Da Vinci Family Fun Ride on the fabulous Ft. Fraser Trail, a Picturesque Picasso Ride of 35 miles and a Mosaic Monet ride of 65 miles along the scenic back roads of southern Polk County. Come and ride your buns off!!
Parking Details
Please park you vehicle at the Oaks Parking Lot. A GPS address for that is 395 S. Central Avenue. Do not park on Summerlin, because that road will be closed off for the Bloomin Arts Car Show.
T-Shirts
Please NOTE: We try our very best to make sure that everyone gets a rider t-shirt. Shirts are ordered 7 days before the event. If you register BEFORE the order goes in, you will get a shirt. I always order EXTRA shirts and if I have one after the seven day order cut off you may NOT get a shirt because at that late date it is a guessing game as what extra sizes to get. I try my best to have enough for all riders.
Hey Hard Heads!!!
Helmets are required for all riders!
Staging Area
The staging area is the same as last year, Ft. Blount Park which is on Main and Broadway. The tent will be on the southwest corner. There is a lot going on with the Bloomin Art Show AND the Bloomin 5k, so parking is going to be a little tricky. The best place to park is going to be at the Oaks Parking lot. Look under parking details for GPS info.
Cool Stuff!
This is one of my favorite parts trying to dig up some cool stuff for all you awesome riders. So, of course you will all get a "goodie bag" stuffed with a finisher T-Shirt, Cool Down Towel, Meal Ticket, Map of Route and whatever else I can come up with. There will be a CHANCE drawing again this year for an original stylized portrait of the winner. You can check out my artwork at www.LillyCatDesignStudio.com to see the previous winners from the Tour de Tow and the Bloomin Bike Ride.
Power Pedalers
We will be giving away new bikes again to kids who other wise wouldn't be able to afford one. So far we have provided 30 bikes to kids in need in just one year. The POWER PEDALERS are the kids who will have a huge smile on their faces as we present them their new bikes. If you know of any one or company out there who would like to be a sponsor please let me know. The more money we have the more bikes we give away. At the Bloomin Bike Ride we gave away 8 bikes. Now that is COOL!
SAG Support - Yes! Of Course!
Ride Support! Yes, every route has a SAG vehicle following to be there in case you need us. It will have drinks, snacks, tubes and a pump. Everyone will receive a ride map that will have a number on it for emergencies or problems.
FAB FOOD!!!
Absolutely! I love trying to get you guys the best food from some of my favorite restaurants here in Bartow. You will have plenty to eat to help you recover from your ride.
Accommodations
The Stanford Inn is giving cyclists with the Tour de Tow a 20% discount off of their rooms. They are a historic Bed & Breakfast a few block from Main Street. Their number is 863/533-2393. Tell them Trish told you to call!
Additional Information
This cycling tour is suitable for a variety of skill levels. Rest stops will have plenty of fluids and refueling munchies. Ride T-shirts for all registered riders and will try our hardest not to run out. Production times sometimes prevent an accurate count for t-shirts but will make every effort to accommodate. Bloomin Art Show will be in full bloom on Main Street downtown. Call or email Lillycat36@aol.com for list of lodging options. See ya on the 3rd.
