FROM THE PRESIDENT:

JENNIFER HALL, SEMCO Construction

This week I want to share with you some exciting news about our Bartow Main Street area. We are going to “paint the town”!

Main Street Bartow has established a fantastic partnership with VALSPAR paints. The Main Street Bartow, Inc. Design Committee wanted to create a color palette of desired paint colors that would improve the aesthetics of downtown. The discussion centered around a drafted list of “design standards” that was created a few years earlier.  After some discussion of the committee, then chairman, Dan McDaniels, mentioned he knew some folks at Valspar.

The team from Valspar came to Bartow to create a color palette that would complement the architecture throughout the area’s historic district.  This was the first effort of its kind for Valspar.  Before the team recommended colors and color pairings, they researched the architecture styles, the time periods represented, and assessed the regional character.  Their initial color suggestions were then reviewed and received feedback from the Main Street Bartow Design Committee, the Main Street Bartow Board of Directors, the Bartow Community Redevelopment Agency, and the City’s Historic Architecture Review Board.

Along with providing the color expertise, Valspar contacted Bartow ACE Hardware (a Valspar distributor) and secured an incentive of a 20% discount to accompany the launch of the “Historic Bartow” colors.

The palettes were approved in September of 2015 and Valspar was given the go ahead to create the “Historic Bartow” color palette.   Beginning this week, the official Valspar color brochures and display boards will be in place at the Bartow ACE Hardware.  Main Street Bartow, Inc. has received the 20% discount coupons and are ready to start distributing.  The discounts are available to property owners, both residential and commercial along Main Street and located in Bartow’s Historic District, are eligible to receive the 20% discount from Bartow ACE Hardware when they select a color from the Historic Bartow color palette. They have to receive the coupon from the Main Street office, located at 180 S. Central Ave., in Bartow, so the property’s location can be verified.  “We also want to obtain before and after photos of the participating properties, to help show the success and impact of the program,” stated Simpson.

The discount runs until December 31, 2016; however, the color palette will remain.  “The color palette is ours.  It has our name on it and it makes quite an impression when we share it with potential property owners,” state Simpson.  For more information, or to verify if your property qualifies, contact Main Street Bartow, Inc. at 863-519-0508, or visit the office at 180 S. Central Ave., Bartow, FL  33830 (M-F, 9:30am – 2pm).
