"Taking Care of Business!"

PRESIDENT'S CORNER: COMMUNITY EVENTS

School is about to be out for the Summer. Do you have vacation plans for the whole family?
If you're planning on hanging out at home for the Summer, don't despair - there's lots of summertime activities for the whole family right here in Bartow.
One resource you might not have thought about that will help keep the children busy this Summer, is your Bartow Public Library. They have Summer programs for all ages scheduled, and admission is FREE!
Roxanne Tovrea, head librarian, said that programs already in place that begin in June are story times, super summer shows, kids summer music camp, paws to read program, bilingual family story time, and family book discussions. They also have the 2017 Florida Library Summer Reading Program in place for children birth to age 18. Participants receive incentives for reading or being read to for 10 hours or more over the Summer.
Another specialty program for kids in the 5th and 6th grade is presented by FedEx called, "EV3 Robots." This class teaches computer coding!
Roxanne said that some neat do it yourself projects for kids ages nine through 18 include rock painting, making Father's Day cards and gifts, building solar ovens to make your own S'mores, making duct tape beach bags, making your own ice cream then building your own sundae, and leaning the basics of beading.
The Bartow Public Libary is located at 2150 S. Broadway Avenue. Call 863-534-0131 for more information.
Until next week,
CLINT EDWARDS
