PRESIDENT'S CORNER: DR. McMICKEN
Thanks to everyone who helped celebrate Dr. Tom McMicken's 50 Years of Medicine in Bartow on Saturday. Also thanks to the organizers that included the Family of Dr. Thomas McMicken, and these organizations and individuals: Brian Hinton and the Bartow Community Healthcare Foundation, Inc.; Phillip Minden and BayCare Bartow Regional Medical Center; Jenny Cooper Baker and Dr. Saco of Watson Clinic; Bartow Civic Clubs; and the Greater Bartow Chamber of Commerce. We estimated that more than 275 friends and family attended.
In the top photo, Brian Hinton, on behalf of the Community of Bartow presented Dr. McMicken with the first "Dr. Thomas E. McMicken Humanitarian Award." This award, named after Dr. Tom, will recognize lifetime achievements for selfless service to the community. Mr. Hinton acknowledged that the award will not be given often, and only to a select few who help improve the well-being of Bartow's citizens.
The next photo shows Bartow City Mayor, James F. Clements, presenting Dr. McMicken with a proclamation from the City naming July 15, 2017, "DR. THOMAS E. MCMICKEN DAY."
UNTIL NEXT WEEK,
CLINT EDWARDS

Stuff The Bus is a Hearth Project outreach for Polk County Schools. Thanks to ENGAGE Chamber Young Professionals, Leadership Bartow XVII, DeeDee Yost Wright and the School Board for championing this project.
