Re: All Town Reunion Event

There are many people excited about renewing their connection to Battle Mountain. The excitement has evolved into a “town reunion”.  Let me share a brief history of events leading to this decision and how you can be involved.
Early in February a previous resident, Fred North, posted a picture of main street Battle Mountain on his facebook page. It received an overwhelming response from both current and former residents. As a result, another former resident, Lisa (Smith) Samuelson, created the Face Book group:  You Know You’re From Battle Mountain when…” That page currently has over 1200 members. Many of the conversations included a desire for some kind of reunion. So, Kathryn “Kat” Nelson-Nolen stepped up to set a date for an all school reunion. That quickly changed to an All Town reunion in order to include anyone connected to living in Battle Mountain.  So the date is set, July 24-26, and plans are in the works!!
At the end of March several people gathered to begin planning for the event. The FB page shows over 200 individuals planning to attend and over 200 giving a “maybe” response. This will undoubtedly bring many people from out of town, meaning motel rooms, meals at restaurants, gas and groceries. People are interested in playing golf, heading out in the hills and just visiting. The park is reserved for Saturday & Sun. There will be food vendors and music. There will be live music & dancing in the evening. Not a lot of specific events are planned. This will allow groups of friends, family, and organizations to gather as they prefer. We hope this will bring customers to many of the local businesses and in turn we are hoping for local businesses to support this event.
There will be a welcome pack created for anyone attending the event. Contents of the packet have not been fully determined, but could include coupons, or specials you’d like to create for the weekend. You could offer BOGO or a % off coupon, or a meet & greet event. We are hoping to get donations to make bottled water available at the park. This is in the early stages of planning, but we hope that by being aware of the plan it will allow you to help make this a positive event for the community.
Thank you,
