Benson will be the first rural town in America to host a national St Jude Children’s Research Hospital walk on
November 3rd at Lions’ Park from 9am to 1pm. Although there will not be CNN live coverage, the nation will be watching to see what a small town can do. The success of this walk will NOT be simply in terms of donations. It is also a neighborhood block party to
celebrate our healthy kids while helping those less fortunate. There will be a hula hoop contest, bean bag toss, connect three game, rock painting, dream catchers, wood car kits from Home Depot and Christmas ornament tables. There will also be a very unique activity at 12:30 where we will be laying down quarters around the infield bases.
We would love to score a home run in the first year.
There will be raffles for local goods and services and a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee from Jim Click. You are the business leaders in the San Pedro Valley. Your question is what do we want from you? And the answer is ANYTHING you can do! It can be as simple as sharing this article with your friends and family. It can be a donation for the raffle. You can start a team advertising your business and community support. Or raid your change jars and bring the quarters to help hit a home run.
Please keep in mind that this is the FIRST time this has been done in a small town and we welcome YOUR input and participation. This is your community and you can choose to be a part of history. In doing so, you will be helping our children learn social responsibility and compassion while having fun on a Saturday morning at the park. That will be making priceless memories. We are working on getting stickers for the kids that say: I helped fight childhood cancer today.
Here are our local sponsors so far. We are placing their logos on a flyer to be posted at local businesses. Want your logo on the flyer or have an idea to improve the party, please contact us. Let’s make this the
BEST event and
make Benson/St David look good!
