3rd Thursday Breakfast

Debi

The 3rd Thursday breakfast went well. A guest, Steve Roseman owner of the Vail Voice, has been quite instrumental in bringing the Benson Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Vail Chamber of Commerce together. A very beneficial meeting between Steve and President Lupe took place after the breakfast. Bruce Staggs, who is a member, and running for JP 3, was in attendance, as was a good cross section of our members. We talked about various projects that are being brought to life in the Benson area, a bit of political conversation, as this is the time of year for it, how well the Chamber office is coming together and becoming more efficient, our members and the positive input we have had from them. Heather Floyd gave a report on the Director's Financial Policies that are being implemented. Alexa Bathe from Lifeline, stated that out of all the Chambers across Pima and Cochise Counties that she is a member of, the Benson Chamber is the most active and involved Chamber of all of them. Thank you Alexa for such wonderful, positive reinforcement! President Lupe Diaz gave a report on the political atmosphere, what the Chamber is doing to see it change, how it effects businesses and growth in our area, and how the Chamber of Commerce is keeping a close eye on this situation. He said that the chamber is planning a candidates forum as we get closer to the primary and general elections. He also addressed the recent slanderous insinuations, giving the members information so they can knowledgably answer the opponents. Many members stayed after the breakfast and networked with each other. Overall, it was a very informative and beneficial meeting! Hope to see you next month!
