American Shredding is a full-service document destruction company currently serving Utah, Colorado, and Nevada. We offer on-site and off-site document destruction. Simply put, we will shred at your place or ours. This gives us the ability to craft a personal solution to meet your needs and reduce your risk. American Shredding provides a full range of secure, confidential document shredding services for a wide variety of industries. Safeguarding your client’s identity and the company’s confidential information is our number one priority.Types of Services
American Shredding offers flexible services to meet your needs. We offer weekly, bi-monthly, monthly, or quarterly pick up service. We offer on-site shredding, off-site shredding and non-paper destruction, and drop-off services. We are on call and available to respond to any emergency pick-up request. We are flexible, punctual, professional, and never miss a pick-up.
On-Site Shredding
At your request, American Shredding will visit your facility and shred your confidential documents with a mobile shredder truck. On-site shredding provides you with a service of destroying your confidential information within minutes of pick up. After we shred the documents in our secure truck, we transport it to our facility and recycle the paper.
Off-Site Shredding
American Shredding offers off-site shredding. Our drivers will arrive at your facility in a uniforms and present photo ID badges to aid in verifying our identity. We will transport your company’s confidential documents in secure, locked containers from your facility to ours. The trucks are locked and monitored back to our facility. At the American Shredding facility, your company’s confidential documents are shredded within 24 hours of arrival. If the truck arrives before 3 PM, then the material will be destroyed that day. Only authorized personnel are granted access to our facility. An American Shredding employee will escort anyone not employed by American Shredding through the facility. We have a closed-circuit internal video system from multiple angles monitoring employee and facility activity in order to ensure that your company’s confidential documents are being safely, securely destroyed. We also have an alarm system, high security locks, and coated windows.
Drop-Off Shredding
Your company can also drop off its confidential documents right at our American Shredding facility from the hours of 9:00am to 5:00pm. Additionally, with advance notice, plant tours can be scheduled to view our operations.
Emergency Pick-Up
If your company has a sudden, unexpected need for confidential document destruction services, American Shredding is able to respond to emergency shredding calls and can accommodate your company with our on-call shredding service. Security
Employee Hiring and Screening
Comprehensive background checks are performed on all employees prior to hiring.
Employees must sign a confidentiality agreement before employment begins.
Drivers must meet state licensing requirements.
American Shredding maintains written policies for drivers and processing employees.
All American Shredding employees are drug screened at the time of hire and randomly screened throughout the year as permitted by law.
American Shredding is a member of the National Association of Information Destruction, and adheres to the strict set of guidelines detailed by NAID.
Facility Security
All non-employees entering the facility must sign a log with information including their name, time in, and time out. All non-employees walking through the restricted area of the facility must be hands free of items at all times.
There is a secure area within the operation that is exclusively devoted to the process of destroying all confidential materials.
No access to any facility is allowed unless visitors are escorted by an American Shredding employee.
Materials are always attended by a company employee and/or physically secured from unauthorized access while awaiting destruction.
All materials are transported in secure, locked containers during removal from the customer’s building to the transportation vehicle in order to prevent data loss due to wind or inclement weather.
Drivers, guards, and other service and processing employees must wear company uniforms and photo ID badges in order to clearly verify their identity as an American Shredding employee.

The Destruction Process
All vehicles have applicable government inspections, registration, and insurance.
All vehicles have satellite GPS tracking, lockable and secure cabs, and lockable and secure enclosed cargo areas.
All collection equipment (bins, cabinets, bags) is kept locked until the confidential data is ready to be shredded by American Shredding employees inside our secure destruction area.
Paper is destroyed to particle size no wider than 5/8" shred width (5/8" is industry standard). The shredded paper is then commingled with similar grade recycled paper to further separate similar information and immediately baled and loaded into containers for recycling shipment.
Standard operating procedures dictates that all documents, media, or product is destroyed within 1 week of acceptance. American Shredding destroys material the same day of collection or the following day if delivered to our facility after 3 PM. All material is destroyed within 24 hours of acceptance.
Certificates of Destruction are included with the invoice to the clients.
Transport and Handling of Office Cabinet Contents
Cabinet contents are transferred to a locked security bin. An empty bag is put back into the cabinet and the cabinet is locked.
The security bin is locked and then transported back to our facility to be shredded in our restricted access area under video surveillance.

Recently passed legislation requires that businesses containing any type of personal information must take reasonable measures in order to ensure that all confidential information is properly destroyed. In 1988, the United States Supreme Court ruled that trash picking (dumpster diving) is legal. Once trash is placed outside, it is public domain, with no exception of privacy or ownership. This means that any information your company has not shredded is open to the public. Your company will be held liable for any repercussions resulting in failure to properly dispose of sensitive data.
