The Boulder Rifle and Pistol Club was founded in 1932, by the same people who build Hoover Dam, as a non-profit club. Shooting originally took place in the desert south of the growing tent city that became Boulder City, NV. The Boulder Rifle and Pistol Club Patch, shown to the right, displays the up-stream side of Hoover Dam before the filling of Lake Mead.
After World War II, the range build to support the U.S. Army unit assigned to guard Hoover Dam, was turned over to the Boulder Rifle and Pistol Club by the Bureau of Reclamation. When Boulder City was incorporated, the Bureau of Reclamation required that Boulder City honor the agreement with the Boulder Rifle and Pistol Club concerning the range.
To this day the Boulder Rifle and Pistol Club remains an all volunteer run non-profit club. The Boulder Rifle and Pistol Club membership is renewed annually on January 1. The Boulder Rifle and Pistol Club has two governing bodies; the Board of Directors and the Executive Board. The Board of Directors has five officers, half of which are elected every year for a two-year term at the annual club meeting held in January. The Executive Board is made up of the activities directors and others as appointed by the Board of Directors.
