News You Can Use

Calling all Minority Owned, Woman Owned and Small Businesses
The Chamber has partnered with Clark County Business Development Advisory Council (BDAC) to help create a more diverse pool of businesses to choose from regarding county bids and contracts. Part of the function of BDAC is to educate and help these diverse businesses be in a position to ulitmately gain more county contracts compared to non-local, commercial companies and help engage the small business community. Your business can obtain a list of available Clark County Purchasing and Contract Opportunities by clicking here. Not only does BDAC manage the bid opportunity, but they are also committed to local businesses, support educational forums, and networking opportunities to help stimulate the local economy. Check out their latest newsletter and learn how the County can help your business! Look for more information in the coming newsletters about opportunities to get your business on the list!

Your Employees Are Thirsty.....for Knowledge
If you're looking to help retain your employees, making sure they are constantly learning new skills; transferrable skills. More than 60 percent said that the opportunity to learn a new skill is an important factor when considering exploring new job opportunities. Additionally, employees want to be able to use their current skill set and continually improve. Research also shows that employees that are able to focus their development around what they are already good at, have a passion around and what your organization needs are more productive and more engaged than those that attempt to work on what they aren't good at. This allows your employees to take their skills from good to great instead of from weak to novice and ulitmately will increase employee engagement, loyalty, and empowerment. Check out this article from Business News Daily for some ideas on keeping your employees replenished and hydrated...with knowledge.
