American Cancer Society Resouce Center Now Open in BC

On Tuesday, May 5, the American Cancer Society opened their Cancer Resource Center in the Boulder City Hospital Foundation Office at 999 Adams Boulevard, Suite 106. The center is open from 9am to 1pm every other Tuesday and is staffed by ACS team members and volunteer, Marcie Gibson. Free support services, supplements, transportation assistance, wigs and prosthetics are available for cancer patients and their families. For more information, please contact:

Chamber's Fundamental Principles

Your Chamber Board of Directors will be meeting this Saturday to plan and set goals and objectives for this fiscal year.  Part of the training and planning will be to review the fundamental principles by which the Chamber operates. 

Those 5 Core Competency Objectives are:                                                                                                                       1) Creating a Strong Local Economy, 2) Promoting the Community, 3) Providing Networking and Business Contacts, 4) Representing Business Interests to Government, & 5) Taking Political Action.

You'll be hearing more about these Core Competencies and other goals and plans the Board composes in future correspondence.

Website Training

So many of you have already maximized your exposure on the web with your own amazing sites or by using the FREE site the Chamber offers you as a membership benefit.  We are excited to see the great enhancements each day that our members making to optimize their web presence. 

If you haven't yet had the time to improve your site, or if you need any assistance on adding to it, we have the perfect opportunity for you.  The Chamber is holding a website training that will allow you to understand the full capabilities of your free Chamber site.  To make it even more exciting...Richard Scully, founder and designer of EC Town USA, the web based software product we use at the Chamber, will be here to answer all our questions.  This event is well worth finding someone to fill in for you at the office so you can step away for an hour.

So please mark your calendars now for August 11th at 10:30am.  The training will be at the Chamber Office at 465 Nevada Way in the Board Room.  Please RSVP to reserve your seat.  293-2034

This class is free to members and $10 for "future" members.

Local Bank Robbery

On July 6th at the Nevada State Bank inside a local grocery store was robbed.  The male suspect was mid 20's to early 30's, 5'10" to 6' tall and weighed between 160-180 pounds.  He was wearing a green long sleeved shirt, light colored jeans, dark glasses, and a camouflage baseball cap.  He has a light complexion and a thin moustace and goatee.

We realize this is quite late in reporting to you, but as he has not yet been caught, it is smart to stay aware of your surroundings and keep an eye out.  If you have any information on this, your encouraged to call BCPD at 293-9224.

BC Police Department Strategic Plan

The Police Department is in the process of developing a Strategic Plan and they are looking for our input.  As business owners, we will have two opportunites to express our opinions.  One on the City's website (www.bcnv.org) that asks general residents type questions.  Secondly, with the survey that follows this story.  Click "more details" to see the questions being asked of the businesses, print it out and return it to us at the Chamber.  We will submit the questionaires at the next planning session.  You will be able to see the results on the City website.
