Tourism to Lake Mead National Recreation Area Economic Impacts

A new National Park Service report shows that 7.2 million visitors to Lake Mead National Recreation Area in 2016 spent $312.6 million in communities near the park. That spending supported 4,172 jobs in the local area and had a cumulative benefit to the local economy of $369 million.

"Lake Mead National Recreation Area welcomes visitors from across the country and around the world," said Superintendent Lizette Richardson. "We are delighted to share the story of America's most diverse national recreation area and the enjoyable experiences it provides."

"National park tourism is a significant driver in the national economy, returning more than $10 for every $1 invested in the National Park Service, and it's a big factor in our local economy as well," she added. "We appreciate the partnership and support of our neighbors and are glad to be able to give back by helping to sustain local communities."
The peer-reviewed visitor spending analysis was conducted by economists Catherine Cullinane Thomas of the U.S. Geological Survey and Lynne Koontz of the National Park Service. The report shows ....

Do you ever have time to just sit and search the webs? Yeah, me neither, however during my last term in college, I stumbled upon this site called Flipboard. Call it a Pinterest for businesses and organizations, Flipboard is a one stop shop for articles, short reads and magazine spreads. You can organize it much like Pinterest, adding your interests so your 'feed' will be more unique and specific to your liking. In looking at material to cover in this month's newsletter, I came across an interesting article on how to keep your employees longer. Remember the days of exit interviews? Well, now experts are saying that instead of doing interviews as your employees are leaving, actively using 'stay interviews' have proven to be more effective at learning what is going to keep your employees. Boulder City Art Guild Gallery Featured Artist

Sita Loop has been creating art all her life. She exhibited and sold work in West Virginia and opened her own gallery showing her work and some 20 other artists. She also developed events to benefit children. Sita moved to Nevada in 2014 and joined the Boulder City Art Guild in 2016. Her work is featured in the gallery during May 5/8-5/31. The Artists Reception was held Tuesday May 16 but you can catch Sita's work through the 31st. Check out the Boulder City Art Guild website for the latest in Events and Classes.
