Annual Awards & Installation Goes Back to Basics

Chambers of Commerce have changed drastically over the past few years, attracting more businesses, young entrepreneurs, and changing business culture have all contributed to the shift from how they operated even just 20 years ago. We too have shifted, continuing to evolve to changing demands of our business investors. One of the shifts we made was going back to our roots for our Annual Awards & Installation event. If you've been to them over the past five years, you noticed we incorporated entertainment as part of the program. Our version of Dancing with the Stars was incredibly popular, however as with all events, they must evolve and honestly, how could we top that? (If you were there, you know what we mean!)

You might be thinking, what's the big deal with this annual awards and what does installation of new board officers have to do with me as a business owner? Well, first and foremost, the Annual Awards was started many years ago as a way to formally recognize key community volunteers, businesses that create an outstanding community and customer service, and individuals that give selflessly and tirelessly to their community and the Chamber. We continue that tradition today, honoring business persons, businesses, non-profits, volunteer groups, and individuals who make Boulder City a better place to live and visit. The more we know our neighbors and local businesses, the more likely we are to come together as a community.

The Installation part of the event is to install our board members for the year. Our board members are made up of business owners and employees of Chamber investor businesses who carry out the mission of the Chamber, working as a group to solve the challenges that business leaders experience, inspiring and connecting community leaders, and seeking out and raising up the next generation of local leaders. This is your chance to meet the board members, share what's important to you so they are prepared to make your voice heard.

Last, but certainly not least, the Annual Awards & Installation dinner is a chance to build your network with other business owners and leaders, get fresh ideas, share business cards and get up to date on what the Chamber has been doing to assist with three key areas: business growth, bringing leaders and influencers together and champion for a stronger Boulder City. This is more than our Mixers; it's about how your investment dollars are being put to work.

So with all that, you're cordially invited! You should be receiving your invitations in the mail, however don't wait! Tickets will NOT be sold at the door and are only available until June 4. You can buy your tickets HERE or you can stop by the Chamber office at 465 Nevada Way. Will we see you there?

Spring Jamboree Wrap Up

We don’t have final numbers just yet, however based on preliminary numbers, we are going to say it was successful! While we don’t have a way to measure attendance, we estimate that roughly up to 32,000 people came out to visit for the weekend. This was the first year we had the Get Outdoors Nevada Outdoor Expo and we are happy to say it will be back next year and there are some even bigger things planned for the Expo! The Rock and Gem Show was successful and they showcased some new activities for kids this year. We saw some new vendors, food trucks and a smoother load -in and load-out process. This free event, including parking, brought a 96.8% occupancy rate to our local hotels during the weekend and if you were out and about you probably noticed it too! There was a lot of positive feedback from visitors and locals regarding the free and low cost activities all weekend, including kayak demos and a BMX demonstration along with the various activities happening at the Rock and Gem show inside the gym. We have some exciting changes coming to next year including a revised raffle fundraiser, expanded outdoor expo, a new stage configuration and many other things! We hear you and hope you’ll love the changes happening to Spring Jam! We hope you’ll join us for the 43rd year, the first weekend in May, 2020!

Did you know that as a Boulder City Chamber Investor, you get a discount on a Spring Jamboree booth space? If you are a business in town that either experiences a decrease in traffic during event weekends or you just want to leverage the traffic that is in town for the events, a booth space might be what you need!
