Small Business Saturday is right around the corner; literally. November 30 is coming up quick and the Chamber has been asked if we are doing anything surrounding it. While we don't have any official events that are taking place that day, there are a couple of things we are doing to help promote the entire season of shopping and tourism here in Boulder City.
Over the past few months, we have been more proactive with local events and activities, setting up Facebook events three months ahead of when they happen. This has blown our Facebook reach completely out of the water as several of our events (Halloween and Christmas namely) have had thousands respond. Trunk or Treat was our biggest yet; almost doubling in attendance from the previous year. (More about that later) We are leveraging these events to promote Boulder City and have created an event for
Shop Small Saturday . Here businesses are welcome to post their events, specials, deals, or activities that they are hosting at their place of business for November 30. You are welcome to post once your specials, deals, and so on, only once please as we don't want to spam our followers. On Black Friday (Nov 29) we will compile a list of businesses from this event and make a post on our regular
Facebook page tagging the businesses that have posts in the event. This is the best way to increase your own social media reach as well as leveraging the following (currently 3,000) we have on our page.
Jill and I (Monica) are planning on visiting a few businesses on Shop Small Saturday, going live from each location we visit to help showcase businesses and the happenings around town. The Annual Christmas events are the following weekend and we are expecting a LARGE turnout to the
Tree Lighting,
Doodlebug and Santa's Picture Party, and
Santa's Electric Night Parade this year due to the high response we have received on our various events. Please be prepared and we HIGHLY suggest you stay open a bit later to capture locals and tourists that may want to shop on the weekend of December 6th and 7th. And if you'd like to run any specials that weekend or have activities planned at your place of business, let us know so we can help you promote it! The Best Dam Wine Walk is the 14th and again, we are expecting higher than usual attendance to that as well since it's the Ugly Sweater Walk. Even if you're not a regular stop on the Wine Walk, we HIGHLY suggest you stay open later to capture the activity happening around town!
