Preparing Your Business for a Re-opening

Much like a grand opening, your business is likely going to have a grand re-opening, but it will definitely look different post COVID-19. While this article is specifically talking to hotels, the tips are generic enough for all businesses who wish to cover all the bases and ensure their places are ready to re-open. It's safe to say that we will never return to what life was like prior to February 2020 and consumer confidence is going to take a while to get anywhere near the levels it was.

While your business is either waiting to re-open, or you were in Phase 1, some great tips and projects are shared here such as
  • redrawing floor plans to half capacity; separating tables or furniture to be 6 ft or more apart
  • take a look at expenses (food, office supplies, non-essentials for example) and see which can be modified or negotiated
  • create a re-opening menu that is smaller and easily reproduced
  • obtaining a contactless credit card scanner
  • consider accepting credit cards and limiting cash
  • establish rules for common spaces like bathrooms and breakrooms
  • write a re-opening email about the protocols you're taking and send that to your subscribers or post it on social media
  • and more.....

Moonwalker Cleaning Expands

It's always exciting news to share when a local business is expanding, and expanding during a pandemic and statewide shut down is pretty impressive! We've seen it with several local businesses like Bloom and Fox BBQ, both have either expanded into the valley and locally. Add Moonwalker Cleaning to the list because they have just bought Pane in the Glass, a window cleaning company in Summerlin. Moonwalker Cleaning currently cleans grout, tile, carpet, offers pressure washing services, windows, and will be adding chimney cleaning to their service lineup. If you or your business needs any of these services, check out Moonwalker's website or give them a call at 702-586-8350. Congratulations to Moonwalker!

Is your business expanding? Let us know! We'd love to highlight you on our social media and newlsetter!

Phase 1 Non-Essential Business Openings

With Phase 1 a little over a week in, non-essential businesses have expanded services including hair/nail salons and retail businesses. The Boulder City Chamber COVID-19 page houses reopening guidelines and on our home page, you'll find a list of businesses that are open. If your business isn't listed but has modified hours or services, make sure you let us know. We have this page pinned on our Facebook page to help inform visitors and potential clients of businesses that are open.

Lake Mead National Recreation Area Safety Tips for Recreating Outdoors

As people head out to explore the outdoors this weekend, park officials are asking visitors to plan ahead for the high temperatures. “Temperatures are rising around the Las Vegas Valley, if you are headed out for a hike or a bike ride please bring plenty of water along for you, your family and those furry friends,” said Superintendent Margaret L. Goodro.

One of the popular locations within the park is the Historic Railroad Trail. The 7.5-mile-round-trip National Recreation Trail leads hikers through five historic railroad tunnels that were used during the construction of the Hoover Dam. People can also hike four miles roundtrip to Lake Mead. The two miles back to the car are the hardest, uphill with no shade, no restrooms and no water. Park Rangers are asking folks to keep in mind the heat and the hills before traveling too far from your cars. Consider hiking and biking in the mornings when the temperatures are cooler.

Tips to consider when visiting the outdoors.

PLAN
  • Bring plenty of water for you and your pets.
  • Use sunscreen for you and your family.
  • The ground is much hotter than the air; protect your pet’s paws.
  • Bring hand sanitizer and wipes. Picnic tables and fishing piers are not sanitized.
  • Restrooms may be closed. Go before you visit or be prepared to take out your own waste.
PROTECT
  • Maintain 6 ft (2 m) social distance from others
  • Only park in designated areas.
  • Stay on marked trails.
  • Pack out everything you bring in.
  • Respect closures and closed areas.

Boulder City Business Social Distancing Protocol

We know that for business to reopen, customer confidence in cleaning and sanitation is critical.

To help with that, we have created a Boulder City Business Social Distancing Protocol that you are welcome to use as a basis for your cleaning and protocol observation checklist.  We know that the County is also working on a checklist that is to help as well. If you’d like to print out the Protocol and hang the Complying signage in your window, we believe that when customers see that sign displayed, they will have a sense that you are trying your best to provide them a clean facility that has trained their staff and management on best practices for social distancing and will have guidelines in place for other customers as well. When people begin seeing these same signs in all our local businesses, they will have the reassurance they are looking for to begin to feel comfortable coming in to shop, dine, and relax. If you do not have the ability to print the sign in color, we would be happy to do that for you. That offer stands for all the Health District signs that are also available online here. Just let us know which signs you need, and we will get them to you.
