About Us
Basic Information about Odyssey Academy
1.We have a 4 day school week. Children attend school from 7:30 to 4 PM.
2. Research has shown that a longer school day increases time on task, student achievement, and decreases discipline problems.
3. 45 minutes a day is set aside each day for intervention designed for struggling students.
4. An after care on site is available on Fridays.
5. Children do not attend school on Fridays to enable teachers to have rigorous professional development and training.
6. PE is taught daily, music twice a week, and Spanish twice a week.
7. There is no tuition, we are a public school, funded by the state.
8. Transportation is not provided.
9. We will offer an optional catered hot lunch beginning August 30th 2010.
10. We opened K-6 and are adding one grade level per year until we are a fully functional K-8 and high school.
11. The International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program will be implemented at the Junior High Level.
12. The International Baccalaureate will also be offered in our high school.
13. Sports programs will be offered at the Junior High Level.
14. The Odyssey Preparatory Academy has school uniforms.
15. We only hire highly qualified teachers and appropriately certified teachers who have a master’s degree or are pursuing one.
16. Parent involvement and volunteering is strongly encouraged.
