About Saddle Mountain Unified School District

The Saddle Mountain Unified School District is located in the far west area of Maricopa County. We encompass more than 550 square miles of land in Tonopah and Buckeye, with considerable capacity for growth.

Tonopah rests at an elevation of about 1,100 feet and enjoys the mild winter temperatures for which Arizona is famous. We are located near White Tank Mountain Park as well as Estrella Mountain Regional Park, both perfect for hiking.

SMUSD serves students from both Tonopah and Buckeye. We strive to hire and retain the best teachers possible. We encourage our teachers to become lifelong learners, with nearly half holding a masters degree or beyond.

Saddle Mt USD's mission is to educate all students to become responsible, college-and-career-ready community members. We believe all children are capable of success, with no exceptions.
