About Parents of Addicted Loved Ones (PAL)
Parents of Addicted Loved Ones (PAL)
PAL (Parents of Addicted Loved Ones) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing hope through education and support for parents of adult children struggling with substance use disorder.
Our free weekly meetings are grounded in evidence-based practices and feature a curriculum developed by experts in treatment and recovery, tailored specifically for parents. Each session offers:
- Education: Practical tools and strategies to support a child battling addiction, focusing on healthy help rather than enabling behaviors.
- Community: A space for parents to share their experiences, discussing what has and hasn’t worked in their journey.
These meetings not only enhance the physical and emotional well-being of parents but also often inspire their loved ones to seek recovery. Research conducted by Northern Arizona University found that participation in PAL led to:
- Improved parental well-being.
- A reduction in enabling and co-dependent behaviors.
- A decrease in substance misuse among participants’ loved ones.
