About Us
Be A Shield in Your Community
Hundreds of Salvation Army programs are made possible through the time and effort of our volunteers nationwide. Often called, "the army behind the Army," these individuals are more than curbside observers. Volunteers come from literally all walks of life to offer service. Volunteer service is not something to be taken for granted. The Salvation Army in St. Marys regularly recognizes its partners in ministry.
Volunteers know that by devoting their lives to service they stand in the gap between the haves and the have-nots. Advisory Board Members, Food Pantry, Warehouse and Family Store workers, provide an invaluable service as intercessors. They are the vessels of genuine compassion and concern on the part of society's givers to those who so desparately need the attention.
There are opportunities to help throughout the year. Individuals and groups are needed to help with a variety of projects, including: helping in the food pantry, assisting low children with homework after school, providing free legal assistance as a volunteer attorney, securing donations of school supplies for unerprivileged children, leading a adult financial mentoring class and much more. The Salvation Army appreciates and welcomes anyone who has the desire to serve with us.

We'll Impress You
Doing The Most GoodI am doing the most good.
I am hope.
I am compassion.
I am strength.
I am faith.
I am doing the most good.
I serve a community.
A region.
A nation.
A world.
I serve heroes.
I serve victims.
I serve a sovereign God.
I am doing the most good.
I am an Army.
Drafted by the Creator.
Commissioned by a man who defied death.
My enemies are despair and destruction.
My ammunition is grace and mercy.
My allies are generosity and benevolence.
I am an Army.
Helping others be all they can be.
I am doing the most good.
I feed empty stomachs and hungry souls.
I rebuild ruined homes and shattered lives.
I am a listener for a veteran with stories to tell.
I am a bottled water and an encouraging smile for a weary firefighter.
I am an answered prayer.
A silver lining.
A second chance.
I am doing the most good.
I am a humble steward of other people's generosity.
I am a grateful courier of a stranger's kindness.
I am the faithful executor of other's goodwill.
I take my responsibility seriously.
I am blessed.
I am a blessing.
I am The Salvation Army.
I am doing the most good.
