About Us
These are exciting times for Altamaha Technical College as we enter our 20th year of operation. This summer term, Altamaha Technical College is adding Camden, Glynn, and McIntosh counties to our current service delivery area of Appling, Jeff Davis, Long and Wayne counties. The College experienced double-digit increase in enrollment Spring term and is looking forward to additional growth in enrollment as we expand our service area. The 19.6% growth in spring quarter enrollment is reflective of today’s economy -- people are recognizing the value of technical education and the impact it can have on an individual, both personally and professionally. Obviously when the economy slows down, many people return to college to improve their educational skills either for their current jobs or for a new career. Altamaha Technical College provides excellent educational opportunities and our 97.51% job placement rate signifies that we are the perfect place for people who are anxious about their future. A technical education makes a person very employable. People can find what they’re looking for at Altamaha Technical College whether it’s in the medical field, manufacturing, business, or the service sector -- we have programs that position graduates for career success. Some programs are as short as six weeks, like the Commercial Truck Driving Certificate, or as long as two years as students pursue and earn an associate degree. Classes are offered during the day and in the evening and we have a growing list of online courses to meet the needs of students. Additionally, job placement assistance and financial aid are available, including the HOPE Grant and HOPE Scholarship. As a Unit of the Technical College System of Georgia, Altamaha Technical College served nearly 8,000 students last year including credit enrollment, adult education, ESL classes, and workforce development services including customized training, continuing education courses, and Quick Start services.
