About Us

The Blue Goose Wine and Coffee Shoppe started as a,
wouldn't it be great if,
conversation between two good friends in 2008.

One had a passion for wine and the other loved the challenge of running a new business.

After several years of talking about the kind of shop and the logistics of it all, the idea has...taken wings!

While you are here, we want you to enjoy your stay. So we will pass along our policies and procedures and a bit of history.

History:
About 5 years ago one partner said to the other, "Wouldn't it be great if St. Mary's had a little wine shop." Well the idea got kicked around and they finally made a decision to make it happen. They looked at many different potential locations in the waterfront area and quickly realized the potential in the building at 126 Osborne Street. The building was purchased in December 2010. Then came the discussion about what to name it. After a long list of considerations, they decided that rather than be called "That wine shop that used to be the Blue Goose", they would embrace the blue roof and the building's history… in January 2011, The (new) Blue Goose was born.

Philosophy:
Basically, we want you to have the comforts of home at your fingertips with the convenience a built-in gift shop.

Mission Statement:
To create a strong hometown business that encourages customers to take time for themselves and employees to grow toward their full potential.

Procedures:
We thrive on interaction. Many things are available for "helpin' yourself". If you would like a glass of wine, a beer, a specialty coffee or a nibble from the menu, please ask one of our friendly staff to help you. For all the other stuff, please help yourself to any of the gourmet snacks on the shelf or fresh baked goodies in the Market Room that you would like to enjoy during your visit. Please assist our staff by keepin' your tab. There are tickets as well as a clothes line complete with pins to help keep track of all the self-helpin'. We know that you are probably gonna want to take some things home with you…there's plenty of room for a big pile on the checkout counter in the back room. Our staff will happily assist you with packin' it up and takin' yer money. The Blue Goose Wine and Coffee Shoppe is located at 126 Osborne Street, in historic, downtown Saint Marys.
