About Us
MISSION
The mission of Griffin Economic Development Corporation (GEDC) is to invest in community programs, which empower low to moderate income individuals by providing training and development opportunities to include resources that afford them the ability to improve their quality of life.
VISION
To become a model nonprofit 501(C) 3 resource center/organization operating in Florida and Georgia with core values of respect, dignity, compassion, excellence, and collaboration with other individuals and organizations who agree the Humanitarian way is the best way to make a positive difference in the lives of others
HISTORY
Griffin Economic Development Corporation (GEDC) was established in April of 1997 by Charlie B. Griffin, III. At the onset of the organization, many efforts went into housing initiatives, whereby the goal was to help low to moderate income family’s secure single family housing. GEDC assisted hundred of families secure their first home through down-payment assistance initiatives, totaling well over a million dollars in services and assistance to the home owners impacted by this great program. In recent years, the leaders of GEDC have become more proficient at running a 501(c)(3) organization. As often as possible, the organization partners with other organizations to share in the positive development of people, all in an effort to make a positive difference in the community.
