In 1865, much of our nation was recovering from the effects of the Civil War. It was also the year First Mid-Illinois Bank & Trust signed its charter to become the 24th U.S. National Bank. Back then, we believed that to be a successful community bank, we needed to understand our community and make decisions quickly and fairly. We knew by doing so, we would become a financial institution people would trust and look to for professional advice and quality products and services. We were right. We have grown, implemented new technologies and added products and services to keep up with our customers' changing needs.
As we celebrate 145 years of serving our customers, our commitment to the individual customer and to the community has not changed and continues into the 21st century stronger than ever. With our pending acquisition of 10 First Bank branches, we will have 38 locations in 25 Illinois communities. That means even more great products, services and highly qualified, knowledgeable professionals working to better serve you.
Bauer Financial also awarded First Mid with a five-star rating, proving we are one of the strongest community banks in the country. In addition, First Mid was again ranked by U.S. Banker magazine as one of the Top 200 community banks in the United States. We were also ranked 7th in Illinois for total volume of agricultural lending, 8th in the nation for ARC loan originations (America's Recovery Capital Loan Program) and 4th in Illinois for the number of SBA loans.
