Emergency Services and
Emergency Shelter, is provided through agreements with motels throughout the county.
Rent and Utility Services to prevent homelessness
Clients must have an income; rent cannot exceed 80% of their income. Help is limited to 1st months rent or one month's past due rent. The REACH & CARE utility assistance program, through PG&E & Salvation Army, assist senior citizens, the chronically ill, and the working poor. (A shut-off notice must have been received in order to apply.)
TFood Bank Vouchers
, PCI Resource Center is the umbrella agency for the Community Assistance Network (CAN) in Quincy, Eastern Plumas Community Assistance Network (EPCAN) in Portola, and Indian Valley Food Bank in Greenville.Monthly Commodity Food Items, are distributed in Quincy on the 3rd Tuesday of the month at the CAN building from 10-10:30. In Portola please check with EPCAN for distribution dates. They can be reached at 832-4570. Chester is the 4th Friday of the month at the ABC Center from 11-4. Greenville is the 4th Thursday of the month at the Food Bank, Indian Valley Record Bldg. from 9-9:30.
Universal Lifeline Telephone Services
(ULTS), we assist with obtaining a home telephone service at a discounted rate. ULTS saves you 50% on local home phone service from the carrier of your choice. That's $6 or less each month. To quailify, you must be at least 18 years of age and meet program income limits. Taxes and surcharges apply. Proof of eligibility is required. Get connected to family, friends, job opportunities and emergency services. Lifeline may be for you, even if you've been disconnected. Find out if your're eligible today!

(CAA), for Healthy Families and Medi-Cal programs. Low-Cost health coverage for children birth through the age of 18.
Homeless Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing
Homeless Prevention is designed to assist individuals and families with Rent and/or utility payments for the purpose of maintaining adequate housing while trying to get back on a secure financial footing.
Rapid re-housing is meant to secure an adequate living arrangement for those who are currently homeless.
Both of these programs come with practical, intensive case management with the goal of assisting clients in finding long-term housing and financial security.

Plumas CASA has been advocating for Plumas County Foster Children since November 2001.
Attending an orientation event is mandatory for CASA training. Please call to schedule an orientation.

Sexual Assault: Freedom and Education
The S.A.F.E. program offers services as the Rape Crisis Center for Plumas County. Volunteers staff the Crisis Line twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. Staff and volunteers receive specialized training which includes rape crisis intervention, peer counseling for sexual assault, and support for victims of sexual assault. This includes adults molested as children.
Services provided through the SAFE program staff:
Peer support counseling for the victim and the significant other(s) of the victim.
Advocacy for the victim with the other agencies.
Accompaniment to medical exams.
Accompaniment to court appearances.
Women's support group.
EDUCATION & OUTREACH
Staff members provide sexual assault prevention education in Plumas County. Currently, presentations are being offered in the schools. Information and presentations are available to local businesses, organizations and private groups. These services are free.

Independent Living Skills Program
ILSP provides support services for youth in the foster care program from ages 16-18 or until emancipated during their 19 year.
ILSP also provides services for foster care youth who have "aged out" of the Foster Care system. These are youth from the ages of 18-21 who have been emancipated. Services of the "aftercare program" include face to face counseling to assist the youth in becoming involved in a positive life plan. Examples of financial assistance include: Housing asssistance (1st month's rent, security and utility deposits); Transportation assistance (deposit on auto insurance); Education (scholarships, books and tools); Employment assistance (clothing, uniforms, and tool costs).

The Community Needs Your HELP!
The Plumas/Sierra Crisis Line is in great need of volunteers to cover the 24 x 7 Crisis Line. You can choose a day or night shift, you can choose the day or night that you would be available, you can choose how many shifts you want in the month. You will provide this service from your home through an answering service to protect your privacy.
For your generosity in supporting this community need, you will receive quality training, opportunities for free workshops and training throughout the year and the gratitude of the community and the clients that you support through change.

The Resource Center serves many clients with various needs. The following list of items are currently needed by the center:
Blankets, tents, and sleeping bags for homeless clients.
Various infant items.
Cash donations are always welcome for emergency needs which we cannot cover under grant funding.

PCI Resource Center has three outlying offices. These offices are located in Loyalton, Portola and Greenville. Greenville and Portola offer the same services and a little more. The Loyalton office is a Rape Crisis Center and a Domistic Violence office only.

The Sierra SAFE Program is a program of PCI Resource Center, the office is located in Loyalton and staffed Monday through Friday 8am-5pm. Within our building is also the Victim Services office, which has been very successful in assisting our clients with restraining orders and other services. This is a unique opportunity for victims of crime to come to one location and have all their needs met. We work closely with all the agencies through out Sierra County and can connect the victims to any other service that may be needed.

Portola Family Resource Center (formerly known as Portola Healthy Start & Portola C.A.R.E.S.) was a program of Plumas Unified School District. In July 2004, we partnered with the City of Portola. As of July 2005 we are now a program of Plumas Crisis Intervention & Resource Center, that provides resources, services and programs to the children, families, and individuals of Portola and Eastern Plumas community. We provide a variety of youth and family support services that are focused to build the capacity of families to make their own decisions and obtain needed resources. Portola Family Resourse Center works to increase the use of preventive health services to promote wellness for all children, families, and strengthens our community. We are accountable to locally identified needs and strive for measurable improvements in child/youth health, healthy family functioning and community driven systems that are designed to be culturally appropriate for each family. Portola Family Resource Center is located in Portola and staffed Monday-Thursday 9:30am-11:30am and 12:30pm-2:30pm.
