About Us
Chester / Lake Almanor Museum
This log building containing the Chester Lake Almanor Museum adjoins the original 1929 log cabin built for the Chester Branch of the Plumas County Library.
Big Meadows / Lake Almanor
One of the main attractions here is a photographic history of the original pioneer communities and settlers from the pre-Lake Almanor era of Big Meadows. View vintage photographs featuring native Americans, dairy and cattle ranching, early days logging, gold mining and early tourism.
Outside Along the North Fork of the Feather River
A large collection of artifacts adorn the walls and center of the museum, while various large items can be found outdoors. These items include a vintage priry, a sleigh belonging to a pioneer ranching family, and the remains of the "Meadow Lark" , a small steamboat that once plied the waters of the Feather River in Big Meadows.
