D. Clark's passion for art started at an early age. She would say she was born that way.
Her belief that daily life presents us with profound beauty and knowledge even in the most
mundane circumstances is revealed in her art. All work is archival, which means that
materials used is acid free and museum quality. Art prints are also available.
We hope your tour brings you pleasure and delight.
D. Clark is a figurative artist who uses various mediums depending upon the emotions she wants to
convey. Mediums include pencil drawing, charcoal drawing, oil painting, acrylic painting, watercolor
painting, mixed media drawing and painting, sculpting, photography (both film and digital) and fused
glass. She prefers painting and drawing from live models, settings or from her own imagination. This
is due to her belief that working from a picture takes the artist away from her subject matter and
flattens the perspective. You will notice she sometimes does depict subjects other than the human
figure especially when photography is medium of choice.
I have been described as an interactive artist since I allow whatever medium I am working with to say what it wants to do as well as direct it into whatever path I want it to take. I enjoy working with various mediums and am currently working in sculpture, oil painting, acryic painting, watercolor painting, charcoal drawing, pencil drawing, Giclee print making, film and digital photography. Mostly I work with figures because I find the human condition so fascinating and expressive. However; there are subjects that have such powerful possibilities in composition and feeling that I sometimes depict those as well. I have been asked why I do art. The only answer I have is I cannot not do art. I hope you enjoy the images here and on my website.
