Emergency Medical Care Committee (EMCC) met for a solution-focused meetingChelssa Outland
- A subcommittee of the EMCC (Emergency Medical Care Committee) was formed as directed by the Plumas County Board of Supervisors for the purpose of developing short-term and long-term solutions for Ambulance (EMS) services in the Lake Almanor Basin.
- The primary focus of the EMCC subcommittee is on EMS services; CPUD states they will continue to focus on options for fire response.
- Chester Fire announced at their 12/19/23 BOD meeting that they will cease to offer ambulance services on 01/01/24 at 8:00 a.m.
- The EMCC subcommittee is confident that the interim or short-term solution will ensure the Chester/Lake Almanor Basin has ambulance coverage.
- The short-term plan is for Peninsula Fire Department to cover primary 911 calls and inter-facility transfers for the entire basin. Plumas District Hospital's Indian Valley Ambulance will move up into the Almanor basin to cover the area during times that the Peninsula Fire District Ambulance is committed.
- Discussions surrounding options for a long-term solution are keenly in motion; in the meantime, the interim ambulance coverage proposed will be a collaboration of several organizations that are graciously helping to fill the needs of the Lake Almanor Basin Community.
- The subcommittee of the EMCC will continue to work together during the short-term period to formulate a long-term sustainable solution.
