The Science Museum of Virginia is seeking several dynamic individuals to work as Guest Services Associates from approximately mid-May through Labor Day. This position provides enthusiastic and efficient guest service by answering questions regarding exhibits and special attractions, provides directions; anticipates guests’ questions and is empowered to proactively solve guests’ issues and needs, both in person and over the phone; sells tickets and memberships using our ticketing system, Ticketure; has the curiosity and excitement to learn special attractions, exhibit content and price structure to efficiently increase sales numbers; ability to build personal relationships with museum members/guests to encourage repeat visits; partners with volunteer and paid gallery staff to enhance museum experience; accurately processes transactions through the ticketing software system; works with education staff to ensure real-time traffic flow is being communicated to ensure a positive museum experience.
Must be available to work weekdays, weekends, evenings and holidays.

Please note that this is a part-time position and will be scheduled up to 29 hours a week with a maximum of 1500 hours in a 12 month period. No state benefits are provided.

Qualifications:
Some college or relevant work experience. GSuite proficiency. Previous cash handling experience is required. Ability to handle several activities at one time; superb verbal and written communication skills; the ability to successfully work with people of all ages and backgrounds in a fast-paced educational environment; the ability to be reliable and honest; the ability to be a self-starter and work successfully with little supervision; the ability to set priorities and manage multiple tasks; superb interpersonal skills; ability to follow written and verbal instructions; sufficient visual and hearing capabilities to respond to public needs and for detailed work; ability to effectively present information in both one-on-one and group situations in an engaging, compelling and energetic manner in front of groups of varying ages.
Must be able to work weekdays, weekends, evenings and holidays.
ASL or Spanish language competencies a plus.
