Do you love science and making? Are you someone who loves to engage with people and facilitate learning? Then join our amazing Maker team this summer from approximately Memorial Day through Labor Day!
The Maker team is responsible for staffing and facilitating in the Forge, the Museum’s public maker space, and the MiX, our (free) membership based, teens-only maker space within the Museum.

The Forge is an interactive environment that nurtures an intergenerational and diverse community of users. Through participation in various Forge experiences, guests will understand how STEM can be applied to the creative process, develop basic skills to use high and low-tech tools, connect these skills to new career interests or hobbies, and engage in the process of design to make something that is important to them! The MiX, is a free membership based, teens-only space within the Museum that encourages deeper engagement in STEM disciplines through a hands-on, maker-based environment. The Museum is planning to rebuild and reopen the MiX space in the fall of 2022.

The Forge Facilitator position will primarily work in The Forge and as a member of the Education team, responsible for facilitating activities in the space for guests and groups of all ages during regular Museum hours and at special events.

May be required to perform other duties as assigned.

Must be able to work evenings, weekends and holidays.

Please note that this is a part-time position and will be scheduled for 30 hours a week on average with a maximum of 1500 hours in a 12-month period. No state benefits are provided.

Qualifications:
Desirable candidates should be energetic, outgoing and enthusiastic about working with the public. Experience working on interdisciplinary projects, demonstrated knowledge of STEM based content knowledge, strong organizational, problem solving, and communication skills preferred. Experience working with teens and youth. Demonstrated experience with hand tools and shop tools (saws, CNC routers, drill presses, laser cutter/engraver, etc.) a plus.
Experience in education, STEM, sewing, fabricating, Arduino programming, Microsoft Office and GSuite, preferred.
ASL or Spanish language competencies a plus.
