Anticipated Starting Salary Range: $70,000 - $88,000
Starting Salary Commensurate with Qualifications and Experience
The State Corporation Commission (SCC) is seeking a Senior Data Privacy Analyst to join our Health Benefit Exchange (HBE) division. This position offers the unique opportunity to be involved in the early stages of forming this division of the SCC and will join a growing and talented professional team. With direction from management, the Senior Data Privacy Analyst will be responsible for ensuring the protection of the HBE’s data and compliance with state and federal data privacy regulations. This position will assess and mitigate privacy risks by conducting privacy assessments, supporting audit activities, managing incident responses, and developing and implementing privacy policies, procedures, and trainings. In addition, the candidate selected for this position will assess the impact of changes in business processes, policy, and technology on data privacy and provide recommendations to the HBE division. The Senior Data Privacy Analyst will maintain and update the HBE’s data-related privacy policies and requirements; actively participate in internal and vendor information security monitoring activities; and provide support for audits, assessments, and security documentation submissions. Additional responsibilities of the Senior Data Privacy Analyst will include, but are not limited to, the following: support and continuously improve the HBE’s data privacy program; provide data privacy training to HBE staff; serve as a mentor to new analysts; research data privacy regulations and trends; manage HBE data inventory and manage the tracking and retention of sensitive data requests; and other duties as assigned by the division. This position offers a hybrid work schedule (generally 3 days of telework and 2 days in office per week) as well as opportunities to attend job-related training and to obtain related certifications and designations.
Qualifications
Preferred qualifications for this position include professional experience in data privacy and a bachelor’s degree in Information Security, Information Technology, Computer Science, Legal Studies, or a related field. Experience implementing data privacy controls and procedures as well as knowledge of data privacy regulations is strongly preferred. IAPP GCIH, CSIH, ECIH or similar certifications are a plus. The ability to research, remain up to date on data privacy regulations, and recommend privacy solutions is required. The ability to work in a fast-paced, continually evolving environment, with limited supervision is essential. Ideal candidates will have exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to identify and mitigate data privacy risks. Strong communication skills and the ability to maintain effective, professional working relationships with SCC staff, industry personnel, and agency partners is essential. The ability to handle multiple priorities and work both independently and with a team is critical for success.
