Job Title: Counter Sales Associate

Schedule: Monday - Friday (Day Shift)

Pay Rate: $19.25 Hourly (Minimum Starting Rate) + Performance Incentives

What You\\\'ll Be Doing:

Providing exceptional service to Associates and customers by pulling orders and transfers, helping to replenish inventory, or receiving product in the warehouse (Central Distribution Center - CDC)
Working cooperatively with other team members while assisting with warehouse orders, loading trucks for drivers, organizing and maintaining the yard area, and assisting customers with their purchases
Following ethical standards and complying with company policies that ensure a safe, friendly, and team-oriented family culture
May include driving responsibilities, current driver\\\'s license required
Required Skills:

Computer literacy. Ability to learn and use the processes in our Epicor Solar Eclipse system, VAMAC\\\'s intranet, or other systems as applicable
Ability to communicate effectively across multiple platforms (i.e. in-person, phone, email, etc.)
Ability to work independently as well as within a team; ability to multitask
Ability to stand and walk for long duration, as well as lift up to 100 pounds
Preferred Skills:

Previous experience using an RF Gun
Current forklift certification, where required



Qualifications:

Associates are expected to report to work on time as scheduled prepared for the work day.

Provide “The Family Advantage” to our chosen customers. Build on the business family culture and core values of VAMAC, Inc.
Service customers at the counter by taking orders and entering them into the system accurately; give priority to regular accounts. Increase sales and average order size by means of cross-selling, up-selling, add-on sales and offering promotional as well as new products. Set up new displays and participate in company-sponsored sales promotions.
Use electronic and published catalogs to provide product, pricing and availability information to customers.
Insure all Company procedures are followed in the processing of sales transactions. Follow company pricing and credit guidelines.
Assist customers with Special Orders, obtaining pricing and availability from approved vendors, adding freight as appropriate.
Drive sales activity through outbound sales calls as directed by management
Handle customer complaints and returns, while showing a positive attitude. Solve or find someone to quickly solve customers’ problems.
Quickly and accurately retrieve orders from warehouse
Keep merchandising and counter areas clean and attractive. Keep counter area inventory stocked; remove or add inventory items to stimulate impulse sales; promote and sell overages, damaged and discontinued items.
Assist customers in locating merchandise.

Maintain forklift and/or order picker certification(s) to safely operate equipment as needed.

Direct and escort customers as needed to pipe yard, manager's office, etc., as need to provide proper customer service. Assist customer in the loading and unloading of products.

Stock Inventory and perform Cycle and Zero Counts as required. Assist in inventory location maintenance.

Maintain a satisfactory driving record. Maintain forklift and/or order picker certification(s) to safely operate equipment as needed.

Use of the Radio Frequency Gun (RF Gun) as required.

Acquire (through proper channels) and maintain a high level of expertise in regard to product, computer entry, and sales knowledge. Attend product-training meetings when offered.

Attend and participate in all branch and company meetings.

Follow company policies and procedures
Perform Warehouse and other duties as assigned.
NEW REPEAT CUSTOMER BUSINESS (NRCB)
It is an expectation for associates to utilize all resources (contacts, friends, family) to search out new repeat customer business. Associates are to use the tools available through VAMAC such as printed flyers and business cards to promote VAMAC and solicit new business. Associates are to have the ability to speak about VAMAC online, Web Order Entry, and any current promotion to current and new customers in an effort to secure NRCB.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and six months related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other associates of the organization.

COMPUTER SKILLS
Proficient in Eclipse/Solar computer systems, the Internet, working knowledge of Microsoft applications, basic keyboarding and the ability to learn and apply new program applications.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
A current valid diver’s license and satisfactory driving record (see Motor Vehicle Policy for details) is required for the position. Permission from the branch manager is required to operate a company vehicle.
