Welcome to The Smithy!  We are a nonprofit multi-arts organization whose mission is to make the arts more accessible to the community. 

Long an important part of vibrant Cooperstown history, The Smithy is the oldest building in the village and has a proud tradition of exceptional gallery shows. Now, our programs also include pottery, theatre, film, bookmaking, painting and drawing, storytelling, photography, writing and music.

With an exceptionally wide range of classes, workshops, special events and performances, The Smithy seeks to represent every medium-- to broaden the definition of the word "artist" to include anyone and everyone who has an idea, a passion, and a way of expressing it. We educate, expose people to new things, and provide outlets for creative energy.  Visit The Smithy-- who knows what you'll learn about yourself and the world around you!
