As a Chamber, we remain neutral in all issues and candidate. We instead provide forums for our members and the general public to access our elected officials so a conversation can be fostered. Starting in December 2018, we will begin our annual State Legislative Breakfast series where we host Rep. Neagle, Rep. Brown, and Sen. Boots to provide updates and entertain any questions/comments from Montgomery County constituents. Also, in 2019 we will be introducing a new candidates forum for our local elected officials. Stay tuned as we finalize these details.

Thank you for your continued investment in your local Chamber. We are focused on delivering on the resources and benefits we have to offer. We hope to see you at the many networking and community events we have scheduled throughout the year.

You have likely heard it said that kids are more than test scores, and at Southmont Schools we put this belief into practice. We consider academic achievement and essential starting point and seek to develop students beyond the basics; our goal is to educate the whole child.

Teachers have implemented a new math curriculum to help students better understand the critical thinking skill connected to math. Our schools have created individualized supports to help students become better readers, and this year teachers will investigate and determine a new reading curriculum to develop skills while creating an appreciation for all that heading has to offer students throughout their lives. Southmont Schools remain committed to developing a solid base of academic achievement for our students - not just for a test, but because it is at the heart of what we do.

To build on the learning base, our schools have put in place a curricula that seeks to develop the soft skills employers seek locally and across the globe. Throughout the year, students learn more about the pillars of character through age-appropriate experiences and lessons. Schools have also dedicated time and resources to expanding extra- and co- curricular experiences to promote student involvement and grow a sense of community. Southmont Schools is also proud of offer our newly implemented career and college readiness curriculum for grades K - 12. In the youngest grades, students start to understand their interests and strengths so that in high school they will be better prepared to explore the career and college pathways available to them for the future.

As you drive by our school and see or facility renovations, we hope that you will remember our inside and outside dedication to offering the all-around best for our students and community. Southmont Schools is excited for the academic experiences we offer and remain committed to centering the entire school experience on educating the whole child.
