Rejuvenation Kettlebell Gym Opens Under New Owner (09/01/11)
When Annette Schweinefus, a self-described "fitness advocate" tried a kettlebell workout for the first time about a year ago, she was hooked.
"I absolutely fell in love with the workout," said Schweinefus, of Decorah. "There was no comparison to what I've done before."
On June 1 Schweinefus purchased Rejuvenation, a kettlebell gym at 211½ Water St., from Mike and Sara Juve, also of Decorah.
"I was ready to get away from working a desk job of 20 years," Schweinefus said. "This was a perfect fit for me."
Kettlebell workouts at Rejuvenation incorporate strength and cardio.
"It's very efficient and very effective but clients definitely walk out of the studio with a feel-good attitude, mentally and physically," Schweinefus said.
The 20-30 minute workouts vary each day.
"At Rejuvenation we incorporate interval training with kettlebells, body movements and other fitness mechanisms (TRX suspension ropes, box jumps, battling ropes, free forms, sledgehammers and more) so that every workout is designed completely different than the last," Schweinefus said. "You'll never get bored."
The Workouts
Along with Schweinefus, five instructors lead classes six days a week. All are certified through Dragon Door, an organization that offers an elite, rigorous training program, Schweinefus said.
While workouts are led in groups, clients get personal attention.
"It's individualized instruction in a group training atmosphere," said Sara Juve, now an instructor at Rejuvenation.
Rejuvenation has about 50 members, ranging in age from 12 to older than 60, Schweinefus said.
"Out of shape or in shape we take them all," she said. Clients typically work out two to six times a week at gym.
Under the new ownership, Rejuvenation will hold a few open houses for observation. Visitors to the gym aren't allowed to handle kettlebells without proper training, Schweinefus said.
Additionally, Rejuvenation will hold an open house Wednesday, Sept. 28 from 5:30-7 p.m. to honor National Women's Health Day and encourage women to take control of their health and make time for regular exercise, Schweinefus said.
Rejuvenation has classes at 5:30 a.m., 6:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Classes are offered at 5:30 a.m., 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. On the first and third Saturdays a class is held at 8 a.m.
Private training is also available.
