We'll Impress You
Fancy Pants was formed in 2004 as an upscale intimate apparel and sleepwear boutique. The boutique started in a small location on a downtown Decorah side street. In the summer of 2006, Fancy Pants moved to a larger and more prominent location in the main downtown business district. Since the move, the boutique has greatly expanded its inventory to include high-end clothing and shoe lines.
Fancy Pants provides the women of this and the surrounding communities with quality, high-end, distinctive garments and shoes that are typically only found in large metropolitan areas. The boutique still maintains a good selection of foundation wear and sleep wear as well as a variety of retro and silly gifts, purses, tote bags and accessories. The wide range of inventory encourages women in the area to shop locally and not travel to other cities.
In order to reach a broader customer base, Fancy Pants has expanded to include an exclusive consignment shop in the rear of the existing location. Rien de Nouveau opened March 4, 2010.
Pieces included in the current inventory are: shoes worn by Meredith Vierra and Ann Curry and some clothing items from Katie Couric from the Today Show. Designer purses such as Marc Jacobs and Dolce and Gabbana which retail for $700-$1000. Rien de Nouveau provides an outlet for individuals who are interested in reselling and purchasing these types of unique items. Rien de Nouveau also provides a platform for consignors to recycle and make extra money and offers consumers the opportunity to live more sustainably by purchasing recycled clothing.
