Sport Success is dedicated to preserving and enhancing sport opportunities for all. That mission in its current action-based form is designing and implementing sustainable organized sport and recreation programs and events in Eastern Plumas County and across the USA.
The organization is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) formed originally under the name American Powerhouse Trampoline and Tumbling in 2008 to serve Northern California athletes in the small sport of trampoline and tumbling. However, while working alongside Team Leaders of many sport governing bodies in London at the 2012 Olympics, it was discovered that many small sports, small schools and small communities are faced with the challenges of limited resources, small participatory numbers, lack of administrative knowledge, and understanding of governance. Those challenges make it difficult to preserve access to sport and recreation, which by design when successful, improves the health and quality of life in each community. Not to mention the character-based life skills the youth derive from those activities.
That began the concept expand the purpose of APTTA and offer support to meet the needs of all types of sports and recreation programs in effort to align with the new vision. In May of 2016, APTTA elected new officers and submitted Restated Articles, in the name of Sport Success, to the California Secretary of State.
The Executive Director, Susan Jacobson, has spent the last 18 months consulting for private sports and recreation facilities throughout the United States. In attending many meetings in Plumas County, after being gone for a ten year absence, realized that the successful components present in sport and recreation business are the same factors that could be utilized to create or enhance small community or small school programs.
