Member Update 11/12/18

Dear Members:

Audrey Ellis, our executive director since 2010, returned home to England last week. Miss Audrey leaves behind many friends in Plumas County and a huge hole here at the Chamber.

Before she left, Audrey passed the reins on to her chamber board who have stepped up to the plate and have worked fervently to keep the chamber and visitor center doors open Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in order to better serve you.

Historically, this is our “slow” time, when we see fewer visitors and gather in less in membership revenue and donations. Because of this, the chamber’s board tightened our belts and asked Jan Tew, the sunny face of the Lost Sierra Tourist Center, if she could take a brief hiatus until funds begin rolling in again in 2019. As is in her nature, she graciously agreed.

Jan delivers the finest in customer service, and it goes without saying how much she is appreciated and valued by visitors, customers and her chamber board. Jan is dedicated to the success of the chamber and the community at large. Your chamber is working in earnest to raise the funds needed to place her back in the Tourist Center’s driving seat as soon as possible. We will let you all know when she is back but do stop by and visit with the rest of us.

We have several fundraising ideas slated for 2019, including paint-and-sip events, art classes, music events like the return of a Celtic festival, and educational workshops. We will keep you posted on all of this in the weeks and months to come. Additionally, we are gathering interest in filling a calendar with monthly chamber mixers. If you have ideas you would like to share, are interested in helping with fundraising events, or volunteering at the chamber or visitor’s center, or would like to host a mixer, please give us a call. Sincerely,
Lost Sierra Chamber of Commerce
