Joint Mixer a Huge Success!

A big shout out to Greenhorn Ranch for hosting the August 28 joint Quincy-LSCC chamber mixer. Great food, activities, music and crowd. Well done!

Kinship Gang Hosts BBQ

The first rain of the season and cool fall weather did not deter the hardy from attending the Vendor and Local Business Barbeque at the the Kinship Ranch in Cromberg Monday, September 16. A nice crowd gathered to share ideas with Kinship for weddings and other venue opportunities. A brief break in the storm rewarded attendees with a tour of the grounds, historic ranch house and other outbuildings on the property.

LSCC Moves to Fall Hours

Fall is definitely in the air, bringing with it cooler weather and shorter days. To that end, both the Chamber and the Visitor Center have cut back hours, closing an hour earlier at 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The Chamber has also changed its location from Suite 5 to Suite 2, right next door to the Visitor Center. The new office is a more useable space and more visible from the road. Stop by and have a peek.

Also, please tell  your visitors and guests they are welcome to use our office for a co-working space to stay in touch with family or work. We have plenty of room, extra computers and a fax/copy machine. If they happen by outside of office hours, they can hook up to our wireless connection from their car.

Show Your Tiger Stripes!

Portola HIgh School is small (by city standards) but mighty in Spirit! The Portola Tigers take on the Maxwell Panthers at home Friday, October 4, 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Plumas Bank encourages and challenges all merchants (and anyone else that would like to participate) to "get your game on!" Cheer on our local youth and support them by wearing purple, and decorating the outside of your businesses and homes during Homecoming Week, September 30 through October 4 with purple and white balloons, banners and anything that brings attention to this special game.

Rachelle Ramelli at Plumas Bank will be picking up purple and white balloons and ribbon.  If you would like her to grab extra, just give her a ring at the bank, 530.832.4405,  ext.1201.

Planning for Portola Lights Festival Begins

By Donna Mills

Can you believe it? I won't even start on the shopping-days count down - that just seems cruel. But, we do need to find vendors and ideas for our holiday "street" market for the event. If you know someone who is interested or would like to help with the event, please have them give us a jingle. Details to follow next month.

Publishing Newsletter Content

Please send us content for our newsletter several weeks in advance of when you need it to reach the Chamber Membership. We publish the third Wednesday of the month, so we can publish timely information from that date through or past the end of the following month as long as we have it by the second Wednesday of the month.
