Money Scam

We have received information from the Estherville Police Chief, Brent Shatto that fake currency is circulating the area. The currency is "for motion picture" money. Please be aware that this currency can be purchased online.  There is currently little recourse if a merchant takes one.  The Court of Appeals in Iowa says that the bills are so blatantly bogus that the suspect can't be charged with a crime and that it falls on the retailer for accepting them. Attached to the newsletter today are information sheets about this fake currency. Please call the Estherville Police Department if you have questions!
