A message from your PresidentPresident’s First Quarter MessageThere are GREAT things happening in our Chamber and in our Community! We kicked off this quarter in January 2018 with a successful 2nd annual “Best of Fair Oaks” event. This event was well attended and honored many of our Chamber businesses as well as several non-chamber Fair Oaks businesses. The feedback has been great and many of the local businesses want to be a part of the great event next year. It offers greater visibility to each business that is nominated and participates. You can view more information and see the winners on our webpage at: http://www.fairoakschamber.com/best-of-fair-oaks.html In early March our Board was invited to tour and get to know our oldest Firehouse, Station 31, by Fire Captain Jason Wenner. This firehouse dates back to the 1940’s and is a part of Sac Metro Fire. Also, on this day, we had the pleasure of witnessing the unveiling of a permanent plaque which has been placed on Engine 31 stating “Proudly Serving the Community of Fair Oaks”. Fire Captain Jason also offered to host a mixer/barbeque later in the year to get to know our chamber members and partners better. Watch for information on that in the coming months. Did you know that we have a Bed and Breakfast in Carmichael, right on the boarder of Fair Oaks? It is student run by the Fair Oaks Meristem School which is located at the Rudolf Steiner College on Fair Oaks Blvd. https://meristemb-b.com/ We were invited to hold our March board meeting there, meet some of the students and see the grounds and rooms in this wonderful B & B. Located just a few minutes away from the Meristem school, the Model Bed & Breakfast is managed and operated by Meristem students as part of their work skills development and work experience. We also held a well-attended double Ribbon cutting/Mixer in March for two of our newest members. Faces 365 https://www.faces365.com/ and Studio Tupos https://www.studiotupos.gallery/home both businesses located in the Fair Oaks village. I am very excited to announce that we have 2 amazing Honorary Mayor candidates that have been approved and have already begun campaigning for this year’s Fair Oaks Honorary Mayors race. The race will have an official kick off with an evening event on April 11th. Jim Cralle of Caps Insurance will be running and raising money for the Rotary Foundation, and Keith Wright Assistant Director of the Orangevale Food Bank will be raising money for the Food Bank. Both of these charities serve and give back to our community. What a big WIN this is!! Watch for upcoming events that will be held for both candidates. We are also still looking for Junior Honorary Mayor candidates, as well as Miss Fair Oaks candidates. The deadline for those applications is May 10. http://www.fairoakschamber.com/jr-honorary-mayor.html http://www.fairoakschamber.com/miss-fair-oaks.html Other Chamber and Community events that are coming up include: Easter Festival at Madison Marketplace- Saturday March 31 https://www.facebook.com/events/1706183949438049/ Big Day of Service Saturday -May 5 https://www.bigdayofservice.com/ Fair Oaks Fiesta- Sunday May 6 http://www.fairoakschamber.com/fair-oaks-fiesta--car-show.html It’s my Park Day- Saturday May 12 http://fairoakspark.org/258/Its-My-Park-Day A Taste of Fair Oaks- Friday June 8 http://www.fairoakschamber.com/taste-of-fair-oaks.html Concerts in the Park- Thursday June 14 http://fairoakspark.org/261/Concerts-in-the-Park Please help me in extending a very warm welcome to our Newest Members who have joined the Chamber in this first quarter: C323 Real Estate Group- Josh Lasquete (all access member) Madison Marketplace -NewMark Merrill Companies (all access member) Angela Gitt – Lyon Real Estate Edvalson Marketing- Lauren Edvalson Fair Oaks Dentist- Dr. Kristina Kuprienko Fitness 19 – Bosue Quinonez Prancing Poodle- Kathleen Schultz Velocity Pizza- Todd Colston Thank you all for making this a productive and fun first quarter, Roselyn Barbray Optavia Fair Oaks Chamber of Commerce President | |
